Eddie, Eddie, Eddie ..

"How's Eddie?" I asked a friend over the internet yesterday. "Eddie?" he replied. "He died last year .."

And so I bid a belated farewell to my old boss Eddie Fuller, the photographic manager at the Warrington Guardian. (That's him giving the 'OK' sign in the group photograph. I'm the young punk at the back!) It was Eddie who gave me the nickname 'Mo', as he would assign photo-jobs to each of us on a Friday evening and scribble what he thought were my initials next to the jobs I was given. Sadly, he's not the only person in this photograph that's no longer here. Rest in peace, guys, rest in peace ..

Media Darling...

I was on television on Wednesday night! On a programme with Freddie Flintoff, Ricky Hatton and Piers Morgan. Oh, yes, I was! Ok, truth is ..  Freddie presented it, Piers and Ricky were interviewees .. and I was seen for about 0.0007 of a second in a shot from a cricket match with Freddie last August. Remember this? Amazing, though, the number of people who told me they'd seen me "in action", and rather fortunate that I'd set a timer for the programme as it looked rather interesting.
It was all about depression in sportsmen!

Anyway, my TV appearance came hot on the heels of an interview I gave to the Warrington Guardian, who are hopefully going to run a piece about my Mish Mash show in next week's paper. I'm just waiting for BBC News, Sky and CNN to contact me now and I'll have done the lot.
I might be waiting a while!

In the meantime, I'll get to my side of the camera as I'm shooting a local MP's visit to one of my clients today. I wonder if he'll recognise me off the telly?....

PS: Hope you like my shot of 'Bet Lynch' and 'Annie Walker' .. past stars of Coronation Street seen at a party in Waterstone's in Manchester (Believe it or not..)

Just a boy...

Portrait of the artist! A dip into the archive for a shot I've found of me, me me...  This was taken when I was staff at the Warrington Guardian, 30 years ago. I'm busy filing negatives and writing captions, with my trust Nikon FM on the desk in front of me! As you can see, the company spent a fortune on our luxuious office space!! I had to smile when I saw the photographs on the wall. They're of Wendy Wu, who was the lead singer in one of my favourite bands, the ever-so appropriately named Photos! Oh, Wendy, where are you now? It's hard to imagine now but I'll bet that, on that roll of 36 negatives on the table, there are probably 5 or 6 jobs, half-a-dozen frames shot at each event. Did you hear that? All you people who say the good thing about digital is you can just keep shooting until you get a good shot!!
Grrrr.....
