Bag Ladies

Sorry about the title...but these two ladies sell designer bags from a depot near Stockport, and I'm sure they'll forgive me! I shot them for Crain's Manchester Business.

Bloody heck...all these strikes!

Anyone else noticed the two main strikers are ROYAL and BRITISH...
Alanis would have found it ironic !!

Saturday 24 October 2009

What a coincidence!

It's taken just 30 years..but in the space of a week I've seen all 3 remaining members of Joy Division.
Hooky I shot last week, see below, and this week I went to see Bad Lieutenant at The Ritz, in Manchester. I'll not talk about the band's music (I never was a New Order fan and this was just New Order sans Hooky)...but the thing that struck me was the distance from the bands we're all kept at these days...look at it...big railings, bouncers...no contact with the musicians...compared to Joy Division in a youth club...(I mean..I even walked onto the stage!)..Ah, the good old days.

Well.....

...that was a good day. Took a booking for next June and one for......Two Thousand and ELEVEN !
I've also had an email from a couple who met me at a fayre in August. They said they wanted me as their photographer..before they'd even booked their date !! Flattery indeed!

Wedding Fayre...

Off I go, to the swish Mere Court Hotel, see if I can drum up some wedding bookings for next year!

Thursday 15 October 2009

By the way...

I'm doing a Wedding Fayre (You have to spell it like that!) at Mere Court Hotel on Sunday 18th...see ya there?

And...this is a job I shot today. This guy runs a company that puts your own mush on greetings cards. I shot his face, he put it on his software, then emailed me the image of him (as a convict), which I then photoshopped onto a card I'd shot him holding...Got it?

I'm an Artist !

Yes...well now I'm getting the hang of this bloggin' malarky I thought I'd use it to tell you of my Big News this week.

I've self-published two books of photographs...called Don't Miss This..and Don't Miss That...and they've both been selected for a Photography Book Fair at the Impressions Gallery, Bradford, later this month. Here's hoping one or other will get picked up by a 'real' publisher...!!

The latest of the books, Don't Miss That, is a collection of pix from 1977...and an interesting thing I noticed working on this image is in the graffiti...check it out...it actually says Ant + Dek !! ..and that was in 1977...weird, eh?

Well...

..I liked that so much that I've just put a link to the blog on my website so that people can actually read this stuff...Jeez, I've got to find something interesting to write about now!

My first Blog...Painless, I hope!

I've got a blog..I'm on the bandwagon....Everybody's doin' it, doin' it.....

Hi, I'm Martin O'Neill, a professional photographer in Cheshire.

I had a trip back in time yesterday. In 1979 I photographed Joy Division, and Hooky famously told me to "F*ck Off" !! So, yesterday, I photographed him again. This time I wasn't creeping behind him onstage and getting in the way. This was a shoot for the North West Regional Development Agency..on the roof of the Radisson Hotel in Manchester..so he was very nice and well-behaved and we got a great set of shots done...as you can see. I love the "reality" shot, that shows you he was actually up a ladder, braving the height and looking every inch the pro..tho' my real fave is the b/w shot...somehow you just know it's Hooky, dontcha!

Right, there ya go...my first blog...and it WAS painless...so I might just do it again soon!

Say Cheese!

Martin
