Food for thought ..

Apparently it's now the done thing to show 'behind-the-scenes' shots from one's PR work. "They" say it helps er .. something or other .. so who am I to argue? A few weeks back I was booked to shoot all the food on the menu of a new outside catering company, but the space we got to do it was .. well, the gap behind the boss's desk! Each dish was brought in from the design kitchen and plonked in front of my camera, and I was then left to work my magic as best I could. I shot mains, starters and a selection of pies, all on a little table in the corner of an office. It ain't glamorous, but it just shows you what a good photographer can do when he has to. Food for thought, eh? ..

Grub up ..

Today? Today I'm a food photographer again. I'm off to shoot the entire menu of a catering company in the North West. The hot smoked duck and the cream of mushroom and rosemary soup are sounding especially delicious .. er, I mean photogenic! Must keep my mind on the job in hand.
Just hope I get fed ..

Andrew & Andrew ..

I've never before shot a Wedding where both the newly-weds had the same name, but it happened yesterday when I shot the "Big Gay Wedding" of Andrew and Andrew! They were at the fantastic Belle Epoque restaurant in Knutsford with a truly fun bunch of friends and family and were treated to much hilarity and - for her, great embarrassment - when the poor old registrar really, really did pronounce them "husband and wife"! ..

The Wedding got 2017 off to a great start for me and it's appropriate that yesterday was in a restaurant, as my next big job is to shoot every item on the menu of a new Cheshire restaurant ..

Today though? Feet up ..

Will work for food ..

Slurp! I worked my way through every starter and main at Rosso Restaurant in Manchester yesterday, accompanied by 140 bottles of their finest wine! Man, I was stuffed! Well, my memory cards were, with 1178 shots of grub and booze knocked off in one mega-session. So that's my bit done and now the web-site guys have got to sift their way through all the chablis and the lobster, the pinot and the truffles to set up the restaurant's new web pages. I'll send you the link when they're through!

So, it was hard work and a long day, but I love the .. well, the thrill of working so fast. Having to get the shot in just a few frames because there's so much to shoot in one day! Hey, I even managed to knock off some images of one of their rooms for them. So, very much like press work, and very much like Weddings although .. I did actually get fed yesterday!

Eat my shots ..

I'm turning into a full-time restaurant photographer! Having got Room under my belt I've now shot James Martin Manchester and am booked tomorrow to shoot every item on the menu at Rosso restaurant in Spring Gardens (I think I might be the only person on the planet who didn't know that was owned by Man U player Rio Ferdinand!) Funnily enough, even a Wedding I'm shooting on Friday is themed around a swanky Italian restaurant! I could be dining out for years on these stories!..

Bite-sized..

Hey, dear reader! Fancy a break? (Sorry, you have to read this in a corny commercial voice-over kinda way! Yeah, man!) So, looking for some great food? Want to combine that with some cool photography? Then why not pop down to Smiths Restaurant in Eccles? Smiths? Yes, Smiths Restaurant, where you'll find a delicious selection of food and drink and .. wow.. wait .. an exhibition of my archive photographs on the theme of .. food and drink! Far out! (Actually, it's just by the railway station, with ample convenient parking) ..

Yes folks, today's the day my new collection of work goes up and I'm really delighted with the selection. I've managed to pick an amazing 90 images from my Twelve for '13 archive, all on the theme of Food and Drink. It's called .. wait for it .. 'Photography .. it's food and drink to me!' Ha! Took me ages to come up with that one! Click here for a sneak preview, and then get yo asses down to Smiths for a longer gander! Have something tasty to eat whilst you're there!
But I don't think they sell Kit Kats! ..

Stop Press: Oooh, look at me! I've come over all previous! Turns out that the restaurant is in the middle of redecorating, but they're keen to get my work asap. Hell, just go for the nosh and catch up with my exhibition next week!
