You live and learn ..
My ever-so-clever IT dude has advised me to make up some pages on my website for specific venues I've photographed. Peckforton Castle, Willington Hall, Styal Lodge etc., etc... and it's whilst I was making a page for Worsley Court House that I remembered a funny thing that happened there..
I'd arrived at the venue and was shooting prelim stuff like the groom greeting guests and so on, and a couple of young musicians began to set up at the back of the room. Soon the violin and cello were being put through their paces as the lads tuned up and got their fingers limber. I thought it a little odd that, when they were chatting to the groom, he seemed to have no idea which tune had been chosen to be played as the bride entered the room but, as luck would have it, the bride and groom had decided to walk down the aisle together, so the groom was waiting at the back of the room when the bride arrived. She took one look at the musicians and said .. "Who are you?" The poor lads had arrived at the venue a day early, and packed up their gear with blazing red faces! Unfortunately, my suggestion that they carried on playing fell on deaf ears but there you go. They were young and inexperienced, but I'll bet they won't be making that mistake again ..

Moan, moan, moan ..
One of the favours from my nephew's Wedding on Saturday .. with my name on it .. and yes, quite a few people came up to me during the day reminding me to put down my cameras and remember that I was a "guest as well" ..
I'm sorry? Put my cameras down during a Wedding? Well, that was never going to happen, and that's why I've got over 1, 000 images to edit today before I hand over a disc of images as my contribution to the gift pile! ..
We all had a fantastic day although, me being me, I had to have a couple of grumbles on the day. The first was when the staff at The Worsley Court Hotel erected a gazebo right in front of a gorgeous area for photographs. Grade 2 listed Tudor-exterior black and white building, with a plastic tent right in the way so that people could puff on fags just where I wanted to put the bride and groom! I hate smoking!! If you follow me on Facebook you'll have seen my rant about that while I waited for the bride to arrive. Second, a very rude registrar who deliberately stood between me and the newly-weds just as they were about to sign the register. "You can't photograph the register.." crowed one of the mini-Hitlers! "I know.." I hissed "I've been doing this for thirty-six years...!" Grrrr....
Still, that's another one in the bag and - sob, sob - that's my last Wedding for 2014. Take a break, Manchester Wedding Photography! Time to put the Portrait and PR head back on, 'cos it's a busy old week in those departments. I've got three portrait sessions booked, plus two PR jobs and two Christmas parties to photograph. Oh, and a trip to the dentist! See, I knew I could find something else to moan about ...

Here comes the sun ...
And so to today's Wedding! This afternoon we'll see Manchester Wedding Photography in action at a sparkly little affair at the rather pleasant Worsley Court House and yes, after all the appalling weather we've had lately, it does look like I'll be able to complain that it's too sunny! Hurrah!..

What I found..
Crikey, Saturday's Wedding was interesting! It was freezing cold, it was snowing and it was blowing a gale, but there was only one thing that bugged me on the day! I'd done a recce at the venue, Worsley Court House, earlier in the week, and found a great spot in which to shoot some lovely portraits. It was sheltered, it was close to the front door, and it was a perfect site to show off the black and white architecture of the building. So, I got to the reception after the church ceremony to find .. they'd stuck a bloody gazebo there for the smokers! Aaaaaagh!.... Congratulations to Robert and Angela, by the way!
I went to see Johnny Marr after the Wedding - first time I've seen him since the days (27 years ago!) of The Smiths. I'd already been disappointed by his new album, so went to the gig with no great expectations. I was right not to get my hopes up. It was so boring! I just don't like his new songs at all, and I only managed to perk up whenever he played any Smiths' songs. However, the evening wasn't a total waste. I was handed a 'What's on' flyer for the venue to find .. The Exploited are there in May! Alright!.... Throw me into that mosh-pit of fifty-odd year old punks! Just watch me glasses!...

Nice day for a ..
..White Wedding!
See, that's the trouble with us English. We're always going on about the weather!
Well, guess what! I'm not bloody surprised! Look at it! Snow everywhere, my plant pots blown over in the gales, freezing temperatures .. and a Wedding to shoot! But guess what else... I can't flippin' wait! It's going to be such an exciting challenge to get the best from today's conditions! I'm off to Worsley Court House, which is going to look fantastic in the snow with its Tudor black and white exterior.
Angela, Robert ... I hope you're up for this! Brrrr......
