One for the album ..

The idea of having a Wedding 'album' seems to be fading into history. I think I've only made three this year. One of my faves is this one, from a Wedding back in July, that involved a boat trip on the Manchester Ship Canal and a walk through Salford Quays to the Imperial War Museum North. It was so laid back, so 'different', and so unconventional .. it was just made for good photography.
Click on the pix to see what I mean ..

Off for drinks with pals today, and time to count our blessings. Of the six of us meeting up, all are still working photographers apart from old fart Jim, who has taken early retirement. You can be sure that - as always at our get-togethers - the changing face of photography will be a dominant theme of our conversation and then - as always, especially after the third pint - it'll deteriorate into a 'fings ain't wot they used to be' blub-fest. Photography sure has changed a lot in 'my time' but, whatever its challenges today, I'm still bloody lucky to be a professional working photographer.
Cheers!..

Upping your game ..

A new set of Wedding albums was delivered yesterday and I felt I had to show you a photograph of them. I can't wait to present them to the bride! Of course, these things aren't cheap and it's timely that there was an article in the 'paper yesterday about a couple who have been disappointed by the photographs produced by their Wedding photographer. Amazingly, this couple weren't put off by the fact that the person they booked to shoot their Big Day was a "student" with prices starting from £125. More fool them - you get what you pay for in this game ..

Speaking of games brings me nicely on to the subject of football. I don't write about it very often but today is different. We've managed to get tickets to the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley next weekend, with the prospect of seeing Manchester United playing for a place in the final. The only problem is .. they've not got through to the semis yet! That all depends on them beating West Ham this evening. I don't think I've been this keen on a football result since I was 13! Come on you Reds ..

Me and my good camera! ..

Well, there's a first time for everything and yesterday I had a bride who, amazingly, forgot to come and collect her Wedding album! Yep! Had me waiting an hour and in the end she had to come to my house where I'd taken the album back home with me! In her defence she did have to finish work, collect three young kids on the school run and get across to my studio from the centre of Warrington but .. flippin' 'eck! Only joking, Lucy!

My nephew has announced he's to get married next year and I'm delighted I've been able to offer my Wedding photography as the couple's Wedding present. It occurred to me that Stevo must be one of the very few people that can actually say, with complete justification ..

"My uncle's doing my Wedding photography. He's got a good camera!.."

Bum, bum ..

CD OK ..

Lovely to be reminded of shots you've done when you go back to a Wedding after a while. Here's one from earlier this year and I'm so pleased that Lucy, the bride, has selected it to go into her Wedding album. Hers is the second album I've designed in as many weeks, and it makes a refreshing change because, to be honest, most couples these days just settle for a CD of their images and I never hear from them again! Designing an album 'rounds off' the creative process for me, as it makes the pictures actually 'tell the story' of the Wedding in a chronological and attractive way. It makes them make sense, if that makes sense! Coincidentally, I was endorsed this week on LinkedIn for 'Creative Direction' -  CD! Ha....
