The Boy who missed Next Year

Oh, my Lord! I woke this morning to the news that someone has actually bought a copy of the first book I wrote. 'The Boy who missed Next Year' is a children's adventure story that I put onto Amazon Kindle about six years ago, and which promptly disappeared down the long and echoing rabbit warren that is self-publishing. To say I'm surprised is an under-statement. (Delighted too, of course!) I'm just going to sit back now and wait for the royalties to pour in. I always knew it was a long slog, this book-writing mullarky ..

(Oh, and to get your own Kindle copy, just paste this bad boy into your browser .. https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=the+boy+who+missed+next+year&i=digital-text&crid=11TDAS8AG8B8R&sprefix=the+boy+who+missed+next+year%2Cdigital-text%2C72&ref=nb_sb_noss)

Word up ..

I'm delighted to say I've been booked to give another reading from my book, and I'll be ..

What? You didn't know I'd written a book? Where have you been for the last year? Obviously not on Amazon Kindle, that's for sure! Yes, I wrote a book - a childrens' adventure story - called 'The Boy who missed Next Year' and, having failed to get it passed at least 25 publishers, it's now available to all on the aforesaid Kindle ..

Anyway, I'm going to another local school to give a reading next week, and can't wait to see the reactions of the kids. I've let the marketing go a little quiet of late - what with moving to France and all - so this is as good a time as any to give it a kick start again. Go and download it. Run it past your kids. Let me know how it goes down. I'll remember you when I'm famous. Honest ..

Book me now ..

Apparently today is World Book Day, which seems to be another of these commercially driven ideas that'll cost the nation's parents a fortune in character costume purchases. However, it reminded me I've not said anything about my new book for a while. New book, Martin? Oh yes, didn't you know I'd written a book? It's called 'The Boy who missed Next Year' and is available from all good retailers for ..

Actually, it's not available from any shops. I mean, it would be if it had been taken up by a publisher but, for some bizarre reason, of the 30 odd I sent it to, not one could see the amazing potential in the story! Still, in true JK styley, I am persevering and have made it available on Amazon Kindle for all you discerning readers to buy ..

Actually, I'll be testing it out soon when I give a reading at a local kids' book club. As it's basically a children's adventure story I'm really keen to see how it goes down with youngsters and who knows? Next year you could be splashing out on fancy-dress that makes your child look like one of my characters ..

Job done ..

I've only gone and flippin' well done it! I've published my book at last!
I am sooooooooooo happy!..

A project I started in about 1985 but which got put on the back-burner until five years ago is finally, finally finished and out there for all the world to see. My book - The Boy who missed Next Year - went live on Amazon Kindle yesterday evening and has already sold its first copy. Ok, Lesley bought it, but it still counts! It's an adventure story, written for older children upwards ..

Anyway, this blog supposedly being about photography, I'd better tell you about today's photograph. One of the main characters in the book is a little shubunkin called Cedric so, on Monday afternoon, I went out and bought the little fella you see here and set about getting a shot for the front cover.
Easier said than done. This picture, dear reader, is frame number 258! Yep, you heard me right. It took two hundred and fifty eight shots to get the one where the fish 'looked' at the camera.
I was exhausted ..

The skull, on the other hand, was the perfect model and never moved an inch all afternoon ..

Anyway, did I hear you say you wanted to read it? Well, just go here and dive in.
Buy it for your teenager, and have a sneaky peak yerself! Enjoy!
