Quiz time ..

Ok, Blog Fans! Quiz Time! How exciting! Your starter for ten! Do you know where these shots were taken? Time starts now!..

Yes, I thought I'd show you another couple of shots that have reappeared after more mega-trawling through my boxes of transparencies. They were taken a long time ago - twenty-nine years by my reckoning - and they show places that, sadly, aren't accessible anymore. Tell me what you think and drop me an answer here!
I'll send a signed print from my 'travel' selection to one lucky winner!..

Seems I'm the 'official photographer' at a 'do' tonight. Hey, I'll do anything to get into events with free wine! It's the launch-event of a book written by my old journo pal Mick Middles. His newest offering is all about the life and times of Chris Sievey/Frank Sidebottom. I was filmed last year for a forthcoming film about Chris and told a little story about how I asked him to sneak up behind Prince Edward's Missus when she was opening something or other in Manchester. You know who I mean. Sophie, thingy! Anyway, he did, then she turned round and spotted him and .. er, told me off! The annoying thing is that - the day before the book launch - I find the bloody trannie, don't I?
Damn! Timing ..

Speaking of timing, my next Wedding looms and, this weekend, Manchester Wedding Photography will be seeing action at the tasty Park Royal Hotel in Warrington. Time of Wedding? 4pm! Time it goes dark? - and no, this isn't the second question in my quiz! - 4.01pm!
Oh yes, it's going to be a lighting challenge alright!..

Jump to it..

The Bank Holiday beckons, and that means two great Weddings heading my way. Can't wait to get cracking! I'm at the Park Royal Hotel on Saturday, and Willington Hall on Sunday. I know it might sound corny, but it really is fantastic to be able to spend such a landmark day with a couple and, let's face it, to be able to control quite a lot of what goes on during their day! When I worked for the Press I'd be under such time-pressure to get in and out that I'd be able to get people doing exactly what I wanted within just a few minutes. 'Put this onion on my head and stand on one leg waving a chip pan? Yes, of course! When will I be in the 'paper?' But that's what a bride and groom should be able to expect from their Wedding photographer. What good are these snappers that boast of being 'unobtrusive'? If you don't intervene at a Wedding then, quite frankly, not a lot happens. A crowd of people stand around chatting and drinking. That's it! It might as well be Tuesday night in The Waggon and Horses! Not very exciting photographs, as you can imagine! So, come on, jump to it...

If the shoe fits..

I'm intrigued! Yesterday, one of my blogs  - this one - suddenly started getting hits from all over the world .. I mean, China, Slovenia, Egypt, Indonesia .. 95 hits from France, for goodness sake!! Mon Dieu, what's going on? Why did that particular blog suddenly start attracting such interest? Did everyone get an instant interest in that current trend for the 'Vintage' look at Weddings? Curiouser and curiouser!

Anyway, I'm merrily tootling along, doing my own thing which, at the moment, means getting ready to set up my new unit at Botany Bay, near Chorley. I've got heaps of Florescence and music prints all ready to go, as well as piles of flower photography place mats and coasters, and I hope eventually to start selling my books there, as well as T shirts and postcards. My Wedding bookings are ticking along nicely too, and last night I went to see a new couple who booked me for their May '13 Wedding at the Park Royal Hotel in Cheshire. Sneaking onto my radar, though, is a Wedding coming up in May of this year, when I'll be a guest instead of the photographer! Help! I don't know how to be a Wedding guest! The shoe will definitely be on the other foot that day...
